Something wasn't right

India is home to over 15 million visually impaired people, i.e. 50% of the total visually impaired population in the world. Sadly, only 1% of the existing literature is accessible and available to them in the form of audiobooks. To bring literature closer to the visually impaired, it has to happen seamlessly and in the right manner: in the language they understand.

And then we thought..

Using the power of crowed-sourcing, Project Awaaz aspires to extend support to strengthen ‘accessible content’, infrastructure and the right technology so that more and more visually impaired students are able to fulfill their dreams. What they listen to, becomes the world they perceive. Project Awaaz is all about our voices becoming their world.

This is why it's awesome!

With the support of the One Library Per Village (OLPV) initiative, Project Awaaz moves ahead of simply recording voices to even delivering content to the people who need them the most. More than just the visually impaired, this project holds the potential to benefit every print-disabled person out there.
